What’s the difference in cost between Reels, TikTok, YouTube Short, Blog post, etc?

(Pricing based on influencer with 100K followers)

Before thinking about costs, we must understand what we want an influencer’s audience to know about your brand and what we want them to do after watching the video. If an influencer has all of their audience on Instagram, an IG Story, IG Carousel and IG Reels approach would work–spreading out posting throughout a specific time period to make sure their audience sees multiple posts about your brand, gets inspired, and then wants to learn more to by clicking on your link, booking a tour, etc.

If an influencer’s audience is spread out over multiple channels, a longer posting strategy, with multiple posts on each might be more appropriate and effective. If you want their content to be searchable, adding in a blog post (where you embed that video content) or YouTube might be better than IG or TikTok alone.

REELs: $1500-$5000, Short-form content, inspirational, educational, aspirational

TikTok: $1500-2500, Short-form content, story based

YouTube: $7500+, long-form content, SEO, searchable in Google

YouTube Short: $50, potentially just repurposing content from IG

Blog Post: $2500, long-form SEO driven piece of content. Long life for the piece of content.

What goes into pricing of an influencer?

There are a lot of variables when it comes to pricing social media content and an influencer endorsing you and your brand.

Things that can increase price include:

  • Audience size and engagement rate.
  • Production time required.
  • Voice over and caption requirements.
  • Style of content – “talking-head” video, multi-clips cut together or a single shot.
  • Requests for 100% original content.
  • Exclusivity requirements.
  • Usage rights for additional marketing and paid boosting.
  • Supply and demand.
    • How in-demand is this creator or influencer?
    • How full is their schedule?
      • If they have a lot planned, it will cost more just to get on their calendar. (If you don’t need that influencer, working with someone else could decrease your costs).
