Frequently asked questions
What is influencer marketing? What is the difference between creator marketing and influencer marketing?
Influencer marketing involves partnering with individuals who have a significant following on social media to promote your brand, products, or services. These influencers leverage their credibility and reach to influence their audience’s purchasing decisions.
Creator marketing, on the other hand, focuses on collaborating with content creators who produce high-quality, engaging content. While these creators may also have a large following, the emphasis is on their content creation skills rather than their influence. The main difference lies in the focus: influencer marketing prioritizes reach and influence, while creator marketing values the quality and creativity of the content produced.
How do you vet influencers? How do you know who is the right influencer for your brand?
We vet influencers by evaluating their audience demographics, engagement rates, content quality, and alignment with your brand values and goals. Here are key questions to ask before partnering with an influencer:
- Does their audience align with your target demographic?
- What is their engagement rate (likes, comments, shares)?
- Is their content authentic and high-quality?
- Have they worked with similar brands before, and what were the results?
- Do their values and messaging align with your brand’s values?
When should you use creator content in your marketing?
Creator content should be used when you want to leverage high-quality, engaging content to enhance your marketing efforts. This includes:
- Social media campaigns to increase engagement
- Website content to improve user experience
- Email marketing to capture attention
- Advertising campaigns for visually appealing and compelling content
What is "always on" influencer marketing?
“Always on” influencer marketing refers to an ongoing, consistent engagement with influencers rather than one-off campaigns. This strategy builds long-term relationships with influencers, ensuring continuous brand presence and consistent messaging across various channels, leading to sustained audience engagement and loyalty.
How can DMOs work with influencers?
Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) can work with influencers by:
- Collaborating on destination-specific content to showcase attractions and experiences
- Hosting influencer trips to provide authentic, firsthand experiences
- Utilizing influencer content in broader marketing campaigns
- Engaging influencers to participate in events and promotions
- Measuring and analyzing the impact of influencer partnerships on tourism and bookings
- Driving direct bookings from influencer content with Trips by Steller – Bookable itineraries infused with influencer created content.
- Embed influencer content on their website with the Steller Player.
How much is a typical influencer marketing campaign?
- Typical doesn’t exist in influencer marketing. We like to view each influencer or creator as their own publishing or production house, where they have their own audiences and production value, and set their rates accordingly.
- A one-off influencer could start around $2500 and go up to $25,000 for multiple posts including REELs, IG Stories, potentially a blog post (if they have one), & a TikTok (potentially repurposing content from IG).
- At Steller, we typically build out influencer campaigns into more full funnel marketing campaigns–with content creation and influencers for inspiration and awareness, video-infused trip itineraries on our free travel planning platform, push-notifications, and emails for planning and booking, the Steller video player, paid amplification, and amplification through our exclusive partnerships. At Steller, campaigns typically start around $50,000.
What’s the difference in cost between Reels, TikTok, YouTube Short, Blog post, etc?
(Pricing based on influencer with 100K followers)
Before thinking about costs, we must understand what we want an influencer’s audience to know about your brand and what we want them to do after watching the video. If an influencer has all of their audience on Instagram, an IG Story, IG Carousel and IG Reels approach would work–spreading out posting throughout a specific time period to make sure their audience sees multiple posts about your brand, gets inspired, and then wants to learn more to by clicking on your link, booking a tour, etc.
If an influencer’s audience is spread out over multiple channels, a longer posting strategy, with multiple posts on each might be more appropriate and effective. If you want their content to be searchable, adding in a blog post (where you embed that video content) or YouTube might be better than IG or TikTok alone.
REELs: $1500-$5000, Short-form content, inspirational, educational, aspirational
TikTok: $1500-2500, Short-form content, story based
YouTube: $7500+, long-form content, SEO, searchable in Google
YouTube Short: $50, potentially just repurposing content from IG
Blog Post: $2500, long-form SEO driven piece of content. Long life for the piece of content.
What goes into the pricing of an influencer?
There are a lot of variables when it comes to pricing social media content and an influencer endorsing you and your brand.
Things that can increase price include:
- Audience size and engagement rate.
- Production time required.
- Voice over and caption requirements.
- Style of content – “talking-head” video, multi-clips cut together or a single shot.
- Requests for 100% original content.
- Exclusivity requirements.
- Usage rights for additional marketing and paid boosting.
- Supply and demand.
- How in-demand is this creator or influencer?
- How full is their schedule?
- If they have a lot planned, it will cost more just to get on their calendar. (If you don’t need that influencer, working with someone else could decrease your costs).
How do you make influencer marketing bookable?
Influencer marketing in travel presents unique challenges compared to direct-to-consumer (DTC) products, where a social media follower can click a link and make an immediate purchase. Travel requires more planning and coordination. At Steller, we’ve developed a way to make travel influencer marketing actionable. Our innovative trip planning tool allows users to add influencer travel content directly to an itinerary, which can then be fleshed out with the help of AI. This means followers can see their potential trip in video form before they travel.
Steller creators create trips with their recommendations as part of each campaign. Followers can watch the travel content, plan their trip, and book it—all in one seamless platform. This integrated approach ensures that influencer marketing in travel not only inspires but also converts interest into action, making the entire travel planning and booking process smooth and engaging.
Who does Steller work with?
We work with destinations and travel brands around the world. Steller campaigns start at $30K and go up from there depending on your goals. Campaigns include influencer fees and management, a fully built and executed retargeting campaign, one year of content licensing, and tech integrations.
If that level of investment isn’t in your current plans, we might not be the right partner at the moment—but we often make exceptions for campaigns with a large social impact component.
